Introducing the Community Kitchen– a new project from Community Food Share. All classes will take place at St Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Winchester from 11 am to 1 pm. Please see schedule below for dates.
The first six classes focus on how to add whole grains to your regular diet and will be led by Shelley Spruit from Against the Grain Farms.

Community Food Share is pleased to offer everyone in our community the opportunity to learn how to cook nutritious, delicious and affordable meals in a fun, relaxed and friendly atmosphere. There is no cost and everyone who is able is encouraged to participate in the meal preparation and, of course, the clean-up!
Through hands-on cooking sessions this is a unique opportunity to learn new food skills, increase awareness of healthy foods and build new friendships by sharing what you have prepared.
Whole Grains on Every Plate
There are many ways to incorporate whole grains into your diet. Join us for six classes focused on whole grains. You will learn which grains are gluten-freeand how to bake, cook and enjoy whole grains for cost-effective and nutritious meals.
Each lesson will explore a new recipe featuring whole grains and whole grain flour. Everyone will participate in preparation and participants will go home with recipes and samples to share.
Wednesday October 25
Breakfast recipes for whole grain bread and porridge.
Tuesday November 14
Lunch menus using whole grains featuring meat replacements, vegan, gluten-free and whole grain salads.
Tuesday November 28
Dinner recipes for side dishes with a twist (no more minute rice!) and recipes for a vegetarian main course.
Wednesday December 13
Soups to make and freeze including ways to save time and $$ plus ideas on how to make the most of a slow cooker.
Wednesday January 10
Snacks and sweets – satisfy your sweet tooth or midday hunger pangs with a whole grain rice snack and learn how to make homemade granola bars, whole wheat crackers and more.
Wednesday January 24
Tastes from around the world including recipes and sampling featuring different countries and different grains.
